Toyota Nationals Q1 & Q2

LAS VEGAS, NV (Oct. 28, 2016) With titles on the line in all of the professional classes, it will be an interesting race weekend. The first day of qualifying for the Toyota Nationals gives us some insight into the numbers that will help get drivers hoisting the Wally in Sin City.

Top Fuel

Leah Pritchett walked away from today’s Q2 session on top of the ladder. Pritchett made a solid 3.705 @ 326.63 mph pass that earned her the track E.T. record a The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Championship battlers, Doug Kalitta and Antron Brown finished the day sitting second and third respectively in the provisional qualifying results. Kalitta wasn’t far off of pole position with a 3.709 @ 326.95 mph run and Brown had a 3.723 @ 324.59 mph lap.

Funny Car

Last weekend’s race winner, Matt Hagan, was able to put up two separate runs that earned him the top spot in both Q1 and Q2. At the end of the day his 3.872 @ 329.18 mph pass won him the track E.T. record. The winningest driver of all time, John Force, put up a solid 3.876 @ 331.94 mph. It was only good enough for second time-wise, but his speed earned him the track speed record. Funny Car points leader, Ron Capps is currently in third with two session of qualifying left for tomorrow.

Pro Stock

Also a winner from the previous race, Drew Skillman showed that he might be on a little streak. Currently holding down the top spot, the Gray Motorsports driver went 6.681 @ 205.38 mph in the quarter-mile. Championship contenders, Greg Anderson picked up a single bonus point in Q1 while his teammate Jason Line was able to do the same in Q2.

Pro Stock Motorcycle

Jerry Savoie is proving that he can bounce back from his misstep in Dallas. Savoie posted the time of 6.904 @ 192.66 mph in the first round of qualifying and the time stuck through Q2. His biggest competition, Vance & Hines Screaming Eagle Harley-Davidson riders, Eddie Krawiec and Andrew Hines are following him closely in second and third respectively as they go into Q3 and Q4 tomorrow.
