JACKSON, Minn. (June 9, 2018) – Donny Schatz pounced when the pouncing was good, taking the lead shortly after the halfway point and then he stayed in front to win the AGCO Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex.
The nightcap was the second race of the day for the Outlaws. Jason Johnson won his second straight race by passing Jacob Allen for the lead on the 15th lap and then went the distance to win the afternoon race. Allen finished second and Brad Sweet took third.
“I said it before the race,” Schatz told the crowd after the end of the race. “This team is what makes the difference. You’d have never known we were here the last two nights.”
Johnson led the first 24 laps of the night feature. He was more than half a straightaway ahead of Schatz at one point, but once Schatz caught the early leader and grabbed the lead, he was not headed. Schatz started seventh in the 40-lap event.
Brown was third, followed by David Gravel and Logan Schuchart. Tim Kaeding was sixth and Brad Sweet, Shane Stewart, Jason Sides and Jacob Allen completed the top 10 finishers.
“When it comes to big money races like this, Donny isn’t going to make any mistakes,” Johnson said after finishing second.
The night feature paid $40,000 to win.
