IRONDALE, Ala. (April 15, 2018) – Veteran NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Steve Johnson confirmed to RMPHD that he is putting together an effort to race at the NGK Spark Plugs 4 Wide Nationals at zMAX Raceway in Concord, North Carolina later this month.
Johnson started the 2018 season as a teammate with Jerry Savoie. Johnson confirmed media reports that he is no longer part of the Savoie operation.
“We are here trying to get ready for Charlotte, a bit behind, but trying,” Johnson wrote in an email. “Not sure of the plans beyond that.”
Johnson was testing an engine when reached for comment over the weekend. He stands fifth in points in the 2018 standings. He has six career wins and has appeared in the final round of eliminations 20 times.
The North Carolina race will be held April 27-29.
