AAA Fall Nationals Q1 & Q2

DALLAS, TX (Oct. 14, 2016) The fourth race weekend of the Countdown to the championship kicks off in Dallas this weekend. With championships coming down to the wire, drivers and teams are giving it their all as every class still has the title up for grabs.

Top Fuel

Matco Tools driver, Antron Brown walked away from today’s Q2 session on top with a 3.682 @ 330.55 mph. He set both the track E.T. record as well as the track speed record. Brown is picking up every qualifying bonus point he possibly can to help further extend his championship lead. His teammate Leah Pritchett was close behind in second with a 3.698 @ 327.43 mph.

Funny Car

Robert Hight set the track E.T. record in Q2 of Funny Car with a 3.839 @ 332.02 mph lap. Meanwhile, Jack Beckman set the track speed record with a blistering 333.66 mph run. Despite the obvious speed, the bump spot is still a 9.012. Points-leader, Ron Capps is sitting in an uncharacteristic seventh in the provisional qualifying results and will look to improve in the last two qualifying sessions on Saturday.

Pro Stock

Jason Line cruised to the provisional pole 6.568 @ 210.34 mph pass in Q1 and was able to hold onto to it through Q2. Line’s KB Racing teammate, Greg Anderson is close behind in the second spot with a 6.579 @ 210.11 mph run. The two are currently locked in a points battle with one another with Jason Line having a slight advantage in the points. Every bonus point that can be picked up in qualifying is what drivers and tuners look forward to during each of the four sessions.

Pro Stock Motorcycle

Much like Pro Stock, the guy that started the day on top stayed on top. Andrew Hines’ 6.812 @ 195.42 mph run in Q1 was strong enough to hold off his competitors during the first day of qualifying. His teammate, Eddie Krawiec —whom he also locked in a battle for the championship with— is sitting in the second position with 6.821 @ 195.42 mph run. Yet another example of bonus points coming into serious play for championship contenders.
