AAA Midwest Nationals Q3 & Q4

ST. LOUIS, MO. (Sept. 24, 2016) The second race in the Countdown for the championship, AAA Midwest Nationals, is underway under the arch. The first day of qualifying showed hot temperatures and fast cars. It looks like the same is in order for Saturday’s final two qualifying sessions.

 

Top Fuel 

Richie Crampton took the green hat this weekend. Crampton dominated qualifying from Q2 with a 3.733 at 323.50 mph run. Crampton will be gunning for his first win of the season. However, all eyes will be on points leader Antron Brown who is going for his 5th consecutive win at the AAA Midwest Nationals. He will have to get by his teammate, Shawn Langdon, in the first round of competition. Tony Schumacher, J.R. Todd, Doug Kalitta, Shawn Langdon, Steve Torrence, Leah Pritchett, and Brittany Force are also qualified in the top half of the field.

 

Funny Car 

Robert Hight added a number one qualifier to his record today. Hight is the only driver in the Funny Car class to make it in the 3.80 second range. He made a 3.893 at 328.38 mph pass down the track in Q2 that wasn’t topped in the remaining qualifying sessions. DSR drivers, Jack Beckman and Ron Capps are sitting second and third respectively. Tim Wilkerson, Matt Hagan, Courtney Force, Del Worsham, and Tommy Johnson Jr. help make up the top 8 qualifiers.

 

Pro Stock 

Shane Gray clawed his way to the pole for Sunday’s race. Pro Stock’s top six qualifiers are all within seven-thousandths of a second from each other. Gray ran a 6.604 at 209.65 mph for the number one qualifying position. With only 16 drivers entered into the field, everyone will have a shot at the Wally tomorrow. Bo Butner, Greg Anderson, Vincent Nobile, Allen Johnson, Jason Line, Chris, and Drew Skillman are on the top half of the ladder as well.

 

Pro Stock Motorcycle 

Eddie Krawiec put his Vance & Hines Screaming Eagle Harley-Davidson back on top. Krawiec threw down a 6.819 at 197.02 mph in the final session to get top seed and bonus points towards the championship. Currently sitting second in the points behind his teammate, Andrew Hines,  Krawiec will face Joe DeSantis in the first round. Angelle Sampey, Chip Eliies, Jerry Savoie, Matt Smith, Andrew Hector, and Cory Reed make up the top half of the field going into final eliminations on Sunday.
