NHRA: Eliminations will finish Monday

By Lee Elder

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 20, 2018) — The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series will resume racing in the Heartland Nationals at Heartland Motorsports Park Monday morning, beginning with the third round of Top Fuel and Funny Car. An eight-hour rain delay pushed Sunday’s eliminations back to the point where racing started at 7 p.m. Once darkness fell, night time track conditions were slippery and the decision was made to resume racing Monday.

The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series sportsman cars will start racing at 8 a.m. Monday. The pros will resume at 10 p.m. The NHRA’s All Access live streaming service will continue operations through the end of the professional eliminations Monday.

The Top Fuel and Funny Car categories advanced through their second rounds of racing Sunday. The Pro Stock category, whose cars do not have the same amount of downforce as the nitro categories, has completed one round of eliminations.

The Top Fuel ladder shows Clay Millican will race Tony Schumacher in the semi finals and Steve Torrence is up against Terry McMillen.

In Funny Car Courtney Force will race J.R. Todd and Shawn Langdon will face Robert Hight.

The Pro Stock results show that Deric Kramer will race Matt Hartford, Richard Freeman faces Jason Line, Erica Enders lines up against Tanner Gray and Greg Anderson faces Drew Skillman.
