Mopar Mile High Nationals Q1 & Q2

DENVER, CO. (JULY 21, 2017) The Mopar Mile High Nationals mark the first of three events on the Western Swing. A racetrack a mile above sea level with the rocky mountains serving as the backdrop always proves to be a fan-favorite. Due to complications with mother nature, the first day of qualifying didn’t go as planned. Top Fuel and Funny Car were given the usual two qualifying sessions but Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle only had one chance to make it down the track. If the weather holds up tomorrow, all pro classes will get two more shots at qualifying.

TOP FUEL
After not being able to make his first qualifying pass, Doug Kalitta came into Q2 with a blistering 3.767 second pass at 323.97 mph. Now normally this time would have put him in the middle of the qualifying order, but due to the lack of air on the mountain cars always run slower. Kalitta walks away with the provisional pole and the track E.T. record. Points-leader, Steve Torrence is second after making a 3.775 second lap at 323.97 mph. Tony Schumacher is currently sitting in third with a 3.776 second run at 326.63 mph and holds the top speed of the meet. Brittany Force, Shawn Langdon, Leah Pritchett, Clay Millican, and Bob Vandergriff round out the top eight.
FUNNY CAR
John Force Racing has the top three spots provisionally locked out with Courtney Force, John Force, and Robert Hight sitting first, second, and third, respectfully.
Courtney threw down a fast 3.889 second run at 328.30 mph which earned her the track E.T. and speed records. John wasn’t far behind with a 3.899 second lap at 301.87 mph. Hight made a 3.973 second pass at 315.56 mph. Cruz Pedregon, Tim Wilkerson, Jonnie Lindberg, Alexis Dejoria, and Ron Capps also make up the top half of the field.
PRO STOCK
Pro Stock’s latest winner, Drew Skillman currently sits on pole with a 6.925 second run at slow 198.26 mph. While our latest runner-up, Erica Enders sits just off-pole with a 6.930 second pass at 198.85 mph. Summit Racing’s Greg Anderson is third after his 6.945 second effort at 197.83 mph.
