Protect the Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals Nitro Finals Recap

The postponed Protect the Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals nitro final rounds finally saw the light of day in between qualifying rounds at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota.

Top Fuel

Antron Brown picked up the Wally at the top end of the racetrack after defeating tough customer, Steve Torrence. Brown made a clean pass at 3.747 seconds. Torrence had cylinders out before half-track. This win totals 4 for Antron Brown this season. He is also the Top Fuel points leader with over 100 point lead on Doug Kalitta who sits in second place.

Funny Car

Ron Capps added another Wally to his collection today after beating Del Worsham to the stripe. Not only does Ron’s win make the Seattle race a double-up win for NHRA juggernaut Don Schumacher Racing, but this marks his 50th national event win in the Funny Car class. Capps sits second on the all-time wins list in the class; 95 wins being class leader, John Force. Worsham’s race was lost not long after he left the starting line due to tire shake. However, Worsham can still smile knowing that he officially set the national ET record with a blazing 3.82 second pass he made in qualifying for the Seattle event.

Pro Stock

Vincent Nobile and Aaron Strong will run their delayed final round during the Chevrolet Performance U.S. in Indianapolis, Indiana in two weeks time. Strong was unable to make the Brainerd event this weekend.
