Top Fuel
Denver winner, Tony Schumacher, sits on the provisional pole after running a 3.712 @ 323.50 mph during the second round of qualifying. Steve Torrence is close behind in the 2nd position with a 3.720. Schumacher’s teammates, Shawn Langdon and Antron Brown, sit in the 3rd and 4th spots respectively. Brittany Force, J.R. Todd, Doug Kalitta, and Richie Crampton round out the top half of the field heading into the final day of qualifying on Saturday. Antron Brown and Steve Torrence will working double-duty as they still have to run their postponed final round from the Seattle race Saturday afternoon in addition to improving their qualifying positions for Sunday’s final eliminations.
Funny Car
Del Worsham continues his hot streak with a provisional number one qualifier. Worsham made a 3.856 @ 329.34 mph pass but is closely trailed by Funny Car points leader, Ron Capps. The two will face off Saturday afternoon to decide the winner of the postponed final round from the Protect the Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals. Del set the national record in Funny Car during the Seattle event with a 3.823. Matt Hagan, Tommy Johnson Jr., Courtney Force, Jack Beckman, John Force, and Chad Head round out the top half of the field. Noticeably missing is Alexis Dejoria, who had a rendezvous with the wall in Sonoma. She is expected to return in 2 weeks at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pro Stock
Bo Butner is getting familiar sitting in the provisional number one spot. Backed by KB Racing horsepower, the Indiana native ran an impressive 6.622 @ 207.78 mph. Vincent Nobile is yet again making strides for Elite Motorsports by holding down the provisional number two spot. Drew Skillman, Jason Line, Allen Johnson, Greg Anderson, Shane Gray, and Deric Kramer fill up the top half of the field. Reigning back-to-back world champion, Erica Enders struggled in Friday’s qualifying sessions. Her car failed to make it down the track under full power during the first session. Only to have her car die on her in the second session before she staged the car. Enders was able to restart the car, but got timed out by the beams, discounting that run. Vincent Nobile elected to move the Pro Stock final from Seattle to the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana in two weeks’ time. Reason being: finalist, Aaron Strong was unable to attend the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota this weekend.
Pro Stock Motorcycle
The Pro Stock Motorcycles are making their return to the NHRA circuit since their last outing in Sonoma, California. Angelle Sampey is currently the number one qualifier thanks to a 6.848 @ 194.94 mph run. Sonoma race winner, LE Tonglet sits in the second qualifying spot with 6.877 @ 194.94 mph pass. Hector Arana Jr., Matt Smith, Hector Arana Sr., Michael Ray, Cory Reed, and Jerry Savoie make up the top 8 in the field. Surprisingly, neither of the Harley-Davidson riders, Eddie Krawiec and Andrew Hines are sitting 9th and 10th, respectively. They’ll both be looking to improve in the final two qualifying sessions tomorrow.
The 3rd and 4th qualifying sessions will air Saturday at 10:00pm ET on FS1. The delayed Seattle final eliminations will air Saturday live at 3:30pm ET on FS1.
